LITH PD ADULT INTERESTS
DEA NATIONAL PRESCRIPTION DRUG TAKE BACK EVENT
One day in April and one day in October, the Lake in the Hills Police Department and the
U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration provide an opportunity for the public to rid their
homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. The
service is free and anonymous, no questions asked. The community is provided a chance
to bring those unwanted medications for disposal to the lower lobby of the Lake in the Hills
Police Station at 1115 Crystal Lake Road.
Pills and/or patches will be accepted. Pet medication can be accepted. We cannot accept
needles, sharps, syringes, liquids or illegal drugs. Vaping devices, e-cigarette devices, and
cartridges will also be accepted.
However, we cannot accept lithium-ion batteries, so be sure to remove the batteries from
the devices before turning them in. If the battery cannot be removed, check with large
electronic chain stores or local hazardous materials management facility to determine if
they will accept the vape pen or e-cigarette devices for proper disposal.
The official date in April and in October are released by the National DEA Drug Take Back
Day initiative approximately one month prior to the event.
Please check on LITH PD’s social media and/or webpage HERE for official date as it gets
closer to the event.
